LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY
THIS LIMITEDWARRANTY("WARRANTY")APPLIESTOTHEPRODUCTS (ASDEFINED BELOW) OF
SYNOLOGY,INC.AND ITSAFFILIATES, INCLUDINGSYNOLOGYAMERICACORP, (COLLECTIVELY,
"SYNOLOGY").YOUACCEPTANDAGREETOBEBOUNDBYTHETERMS OFTHISWARRANTYBY
OPENINGTHEPACKAGECONTAININGAND/ORUSINGTHEPRODUCT.IFYOUDONOTAGREETO
THETERMSOFTHISWARRANTY,DONOTUSETHEPRODUCT.INSTEAD,YOUMAYRETURNTHE
PRODUCTTOTHERESELLERWHEREYOUPURCHASEDITFORAREFUNDINACCORDANCEWITH
THERESELLER'SAPPLICABLERETURNPOLICY.
Section 1. Definitions.
(a) "Category IProduct"

DS 3 6 11 x s, D S 2 411+, D S 1 511+, D S 1 01 0 + ,
DS710+, DS509+,DS508,RS2211+,RS2211RP+,
RS411, RS409RP+, RS409+,RS409, RS408-RP,
RS408, RS407, RX1213sas,RX1211, RX1211RP,
DX510,DX5, RX4, and RAM Module(1GB/2GB).
(c)"CategoryIIIProduct"meansallotherSynology
product models purchased by Customer after
March1,2008. (d) "Category IVProduct"means
all other Synology product models purchased by
CustomerbeforeFebruary29,2008.(e)"Customer"
means the original person or entity purchasing
the Product from Synology or an authorized
Synology distributor or reseller. (f) "Product"
meansa Category I Product, Category IIProduct,
Category III Product,orCategory IV Product and
any hardware incorporated into the product by
Synologyandanyaccompanyingdocumentation.(g)
"Software"meanstheSynologyproprietarysoftware
that accompaniesthe Product whenpurchased by
Customer,is downloadedbyCustomerattheWeb
Site,orispre-installedontheProductbySynology,
and includes any firmware, associated media,
images,animations, video,audio,text andapplets
incorporatedinto the software orProduct and any
updatesorupgradestosuchsoftware.(h)"Warranty
Period" means: (i)theperiod commencingon the
date theProduct is purchased by Customerand
ending (1) five yearsafter such date for Category
I Products; (2) three years after such date for
CategoryII Products; or(3)two years aftersuch
dateforCategoryIIIProducts;or(ii)oneyearafter
such dateforCategoryIVProducts.(i) "Web Site"
means the Synology web site located at www.
synology.com.
Section 2. Limited Warranty and Remedies
2.1 Limited Warranty.
Subjectto Section2.7,
Synology warrantsto Customer thateachProduct
(a) willbefreeofmaterialdefects in workmanship
and(b)undernormal usewillperformsubstantially
i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h S y n o l o g y ' s p u b l i s h e d
specificationsfortheProductduringtheWarranty
Period.SynologywarrantstheSoftwareassetforth
in theaccompanying end userlicense agreement
providedwiththeProduct,ifany.
2.2 Product Registration.
Customers may
register Products with Synology and may obtain
the manufacturingdate for Category I Products,
CategoryII Products and CategoryIII Productsat
the WebSite.Thefailure toregisteraProductat
theWebSite will not diminishthe warranty rights
setforthinSection2.1.Synologyisnotresponsible
forCustomer'sfailuretoidentifythemanufacturing
dateofanyProduct.
2.3 Exclusive Remedy.
If Customer gives
noticeofnoncompliancewithanyofthewarranties
set forth in Section 2.1 within the applicable
Warranty Period in the manner set forth below,
then, upon verification of the noncompliance by
Synology, Synology will, at Synology's option:
(a) use commercially reasonableefforts to repair
the Product, or (b) replace the noncomplying
Productorpartthereofuponreturnofthecomplete
Product in accordance with Section 2.4 The
foregoing setsforthSynology'sentire liabilityand
Customer's sole and exclusive remedy for any
breachofwarrantyunder Section 2.1oranyother
defect or deficiency in the Product. Customer
will reasonably assist Synology to diagnose and
validateany nonconformitywiththe Product. The
warranty setforthinSection 2.1does notinclude:
(1) any warranty relating to the Software; (2)
physical installation or removal of the Product
from Customer'ssite;(3) visits toCustomer'ssite;
(4) labor necessary to effect repairs or replace
defective parts other than during Synology's or
its contracted service providers' normal local
businesshours,exclusiveofweekendsandservice
providers’holidays;(5)anyworkwithanythirdparty
equipmentorsoftware;(6)anywarrantyofthehard
diskifinstalledbyCustomeroranyotherthirdparty;
or(7) any warranty of compatibilitywith thehard
disk.
2.4 Return.
AnyProductreturnedbyCustomer
under Section 2.3 must be assigned a Return
Merchandise Authorization ("RMA") number by
Synology before shipmentand mustbe returned
in accordancewith Synology's then current RMA
procedures.Customermaycontactanyauthorized
SynologydistributororresellerorSynologySupport
to obtain assistance in obtaining an RMA,and
must provideproofofpurchase andproductserial
number when asking for such assistance. For
warrantyclaims,Customermustreturnthecomplete
ProducttoSynologyinaccordancewiththisSection
2.4tobeeligible for coverageunderthisWarranty.
AnyProductreturned withoutan RMAnumber,or
any Product that has been disassembled (except
underthedirectionofSynology)willberefusedand
returnedtoCustomeratCustomer'sexpense.Any
Product that has been assigned a RMAnumber
must be returned in the same condition as it was
